How to Efficiently Delete Multiple Rows of Content within Notion

Notion is a powerful productivity tool that allows users to organize information, collaborate with teams, and manage personal projects. One common task that users often need to perform is deleting multiple rows or blocks of content. Whether you need to remove outdated information, clean up a page, or reorganize your workspace, Notion offers several efficient methods to help you accomplish this quickly and effortlessly.

Method 1: Using Select Mode

Notion’s Select Mode allows you to select and manipulate multiple rows or blocks at once. Follow these steps to delete multiple rows using Select Mode:

  1. Open the page or database where you want to delete content.
  2. Click on the three vertical dots (...) near the top-right corner of the page.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select Toggle select mode. You can also click anywhere on an empty part of the page and press Ctrl + A (Windows) or Cmd + A (Mac) to select all content.
  4. In Select Mode, click on each row or block you want to delete. Selected items will be highlighted.
  5. Once you have selected all desired rows, click on the three vertical dots (...) again and choose Delete from the menu.
  6. Confirm the deletion by clicking Okay.

Method 2: Using Keyboard Multi-Select

Notion also offers a Multi-Select feature using your keyboard. This method is useful for selecting a range of rows or blocks manually. Follow these steps to delete multiple rows:

  2. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard.
  3. Click on the first row or block you want to delete.
  4. While holding Shift, click on the last row or block you want deleted. This will select every block in between.
  5. Release the Shift key.
  6. Right-click on any of the highlighted rows or blocks, then choose Delete from the context menu.
  7. Confirm the deletion by clicking Okay.

Method 3: Deleting Rows from a Database

When working with a database in Notion, you can efficiently delete multiple rows without using Select Mode or Multi-Select. Here's how:

  1. Open the page that contains your database.
  2. Switch to the Table view to see the database rows clearly.
  3. Locate the rows you want to delete.
  4. Hover over a row until a checkbox appears on the left side.
  5. Click the checkbox for each row you want to remove.
  6. After selecting the desired rows, click the Trashcan icon at the top of the table view.
  7. Confirm the deletion by clicking Okay.

Method 4: Bulk Deleting Pages

For a large number of pages within a workspace or folder, the Bulk Delete feature can save you time. Here’s how to delete multiple pages at once:

  1. Navigate to the workspace or folder containing the pages you wish to delete.
  2. In the sidebar, click on All to display every page in that workspace or folder.
  3. Click on the three vertical dots (...) near the top-right corner of the page.
  4. Select Bulk delete from the drop-down menu.
  5. Mark the pages you want to delete by clicking on their checkboxes.
  6. Once all desired pages are selected, click Delete in the bottom-right corner of the window.
  7. Confirm the deletion by clicking Okay.

Using these methods, you can efficiently delete multiple rows, blocks, or pages in Notion. The platform’s flexibility and variety of selection options make it easy to declutter your workspaces and stay organized, allowing you to focus on your projects and tasks without unnecessary distractions.
