How to Manage and Interact with Comments in Notion
Notion is a powerful Productivity tool that allows you to collaborate and communicate with your team seamlessly. One of its key features is the ability to add comments to pages, which greatly facilitates discussions and feedback within your Workspace. In this article, we will explore how you can effectively manage and interact with comments in Notion.
Adding Comments
To add a comment in Notion, simply navigate to the page where you want to leave a comment. On the top right corner of the page, you will find a speech bubble icon. Clicking on this icon will open the comments sidebar on the right-hand side of your screen.
In the comments sidebar, you can see all the existing comments and add your own by typing in the comment box at the bottom. Once you’re ready, hit the enter key to post your comment. You can also add attachments, like images or files, to your comment by clicking on the paperclip icon.
Interacting with Comments
After you and your team have started a discussion by adding comments, it's important to know how you can effectively interact with them. Notion offers several features to help you engage in conversations and keep track of the discussions:
Resolving and Deleting Comments
Once a comment has been addressed or resolved, you can mark it as such in Notion. To do this, hover over the comment and click on the three-dot menu icon that appears. From the dropdown menu, select the "Resolve" option. The comment will then be hidden from the main view, but can still be accessed by clicking on the "Resolved" tab in the comments sidebar.
If you want to delete a comment entirely, you can also do so by selecting the "Delete" option from the same three-dot menu. Please note that once a comment is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
Mentioning Users
To involve specific team members in a comment thread or draw their attention to a particular discussion point, you can mention them by using @
followed by their names. Notion will automatically suggest users as you type. Once you select a user, they will be notified of your mention and can easily navigate to the comment by clicking on the link.
Editing and Replying to Comments
If you need to make changes to a comment, such as correcting a typo or revising your opinion, you can easily edit your own comments. Hover over the comment, click on the three-dot menu, and select the "Edit" option. Make your changes in the comment box and hit enter to save the updated comment.
Moreover, you can reply to comments to continue the conversation. To do this, click on the reply icon that appears below a comment. This will create a nested thread within the comment, making it easier to follow discussions that have multiple subtopics or branches.
Filtering and Sorting Comments
As your Workspace grows and more comments are added, it can become challenging to keep track of them all. Notion offers various ways to filter and sort comments to help you organize the discussions effectively. In the comments sidebar, you can use the search bar to find specific comments by entering keywords or the names of comment authors.
You can also sort comments based on their creation date or author. To change the sorting order, click on the "Sort" button at the top right of the comments sidebar. From the dropdown menu, choose the desired sorting option.
Conclusion
Comments play a crucial role in facilitating collaboration and communication in Notion. By understanding how to manage and interact with comments effectively, you can streamline discussions, address feedback, and keep everyone on the same page. With features like resolving comments, mentioning users, editing and replying, as well as filtering and sorting options, Notion provides a comprehensive solution for Managing comments within your Workspace. So go ahead and leverage the power of comments to enhance collaboration and productivity in your projects using Notion.
