How to Add Custom fonts to Notion

Notion is a versatile and powerful note-taking and Productivity tool that offers a wide range of customization options. However, by default, it does not provide the option to add Custom fonts. While Notion does have an extensive library of fonts to choose from, you may have a particular font in mind that adds a personal touch or aligns better with your brand. In this article, we will explore a workaround to add Custom fonts to Notion using a third-party tool.

Using Google Fonts as a Workaround

Google Fonts is a popular resource that offers a vast collection of free fonts. By utilizing the Google Fonts API, we can add Custom fonts to Notion. Follow the steps below to get started:

  1. Choose and Embed the Font: Visit the Google Fonts website and browse through the vast collection of fonts available. Select the font you want to use within Notion by clicking on the "plus" button next to the font name. Once you have made your selection, click on the "Family Selected" bar at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Customize the Font: Google Fonts allows you to further customize your font selection by adjusting the weight, style, and even character sets. Once you are satisfied with your customization, click on the "Embed" tab located on the top right corner of the screen.

  3. Get the Embed Code: In the "Embed" tab, you will find the HTML embed code for the selected font. Copy the code by clicking on the Code snippet icon or by using Ctrl/Cmd+C.

  4. Use Notion Enhancer: Notion Enhancer is a third-party plugin that allows for advanced customization within Notion. It extends Notion's Functionality by introducing custom CSS and JavaScript capabilities. Begin by installing Notion Enhancer. Visit the official Notion Enhancer GitHub repository for installation instructions based on your operating system.

  5. Adding Custom CSS: Once you have installed Notion Enhancer, open your Notion Workspace and click on the gear icon located at the top right corner of the screen. This will open the Notion Enhancer settings. Scroll down to the "Custom CSS" section and paste the previously copied embed code from Google Fonts into the custom CSS editor. Make sure to save the changes.

  6. Apply the Custom Font: With the embed code placed in the custom CSS editor, you can now use the custom font in your Notion pages. To do so, open any Notion page and type </span> at the beginning of the page. Then, type <span style="font-family: 'Your Font Name', sans-serif;"> and continue typing your content after the closing </span>. Replace 'Your Font Name' with the name of the font you selected, as listed in the Google Fonts embed code.

By following these steps, you can effectively add Custom fonts to Notion using Google Fonts and the Notion Enhancer plugin. However, keep in mind that this workaround only applies to the devices and environments where you have installed the Notion Enhancer plugin. Any Notion pages using Custom fonts will revert to default fonts if accessed on a device without the plugin installed.

With the ability to add Custom fonts to Notion, you can personalize your Workspace further and enhance the visual appeal of your notes and documents. Enjoy the flexibility and creativity that Custom fonts bring to your Notion experience!
